Need a certification? The Community Education Center is an authorized Pearson VUE Test Center providing on-site, on-demand computer-based testing for certification and professional licensure exams. Individuals can choose from nearly one hundred exams including PTCB exam, Cisco®, Citrix ®, CompTIA, Excelsior College, Evaluation Systems CCIS/PAPA, and the GED Testing Service®.
Among the more requested exams at the CEC so far are the GED®, the Pre-service Academic Performance Assessment (PAPA), and exams for Excelsior College. The GED®, or general education diploma, is a critical credential for individuals who did not complete high school. The PAPA exam is the new educator certification required for all undergraduate college students seeking certification to teach in Pennsylvania. Excelsior College is a leader in online and distance learning and is known for its tailored approach to adult learners by recognizing and granting credit for prior learning. We strive to keep a flexible schedule with testing hours in the morning, afternoon and evenings to accommodate the various schedules and busy lives of all candidates. In an effort to enhance services for individuals who receive the Commonwealth Secondary School Diploma, the Pennsylvania Department of Education is transferring all of its diploma and transcript processing services to DiplomaSender. Effective October, 1, 2016, all Pennsylvania high school equivalency diplomas and transcripts for the GED test, HiSET exam, as well as those awarded through the 30 College Credit Option, will be handled by DiplomaSender.
